The Old Folks Home

I've thought about it many times and was again this morn on the way to work dark and foggy. Anyone else think two opposing routes of traffic going 55+ right at each other couple feet maybe in between sometimes inches is crazy?
Especially in fog.

Good afternoon everyone. I hope your aches, and pains fade away today.

I got 1 IBC tote started. 5 gallons of vinegar, 8 boxes of salt, swished around on all 6 sides, to scour, and remove odor/taste.

Later today, I plan to go to Lowes to get a cobweb brush (round head) with the extending handle. Tomorrow I will rinse the totes, then put dish soap, and water, then use the cobweb brush to scrub it on the inside, and outside. I need to remove the gasket from the top cap, and thoroughly clean it too, but I can bring it in, and do that in the sink. Then I will rinse it thoroughly. I think I may finish it off by adding some bleach water, then a final rinse.

I have to admit, even empty, they're on the heavy side for me, and with the heat, I'm whipped. Came inside, and showered to get rid of the vinegar smell, and cool off. Yeah, I'm ready to relax a bit.

Well it was overcast and still cool at 8 am this morning. It was a comedy of errors today, but I did manage to get a few things done. Filled up the wheelbarrow to take stuff up to the section of the front yard that still isn't growing any grass. Chicken litter is great for that on sandy soil. Oops, sure is hard to push, flat tire! Got that fixed and then the rake handle broke right at the head. Too big to stick in there now, sheesh. Used the old rake I cut the handle down to use in the coops. Need a new rake. I did get a number of spider webs down. I don't particularly like Golden Orb weavers at all. For one they are HUGE, and two they make webs everywhere I like to walk. I don't like greeting them with my face.

We have golden orb garden spiders here also, @CSolis. They start appearing about this time of the year where wild weeds start to grow or overgrowth in spent gardens. Quite a shocker to walk into one and encounter a spider big enough to slap a saddle on and gallop around the neighborhood.

@getaclue if you want to get the final bleach smell out of the totes try bakingsoda. I use bleach water on the handled cat litter carriers that I recycle into water carriers. Bleach water, let them set over night. Rinse, then put baking soda and water in them, slosh let it set shaking them occasionally, then rinse. Smell gone. Let them dry and they are good to go.

The worst road like that here is the old river road. It is often foggy during the winter there and it is a levy! One side is the Sacramento river and the other side is a 50ft. drop in some places. There are fatal crashes every year on that road.

Orb weavers are pretty!

OH, did you know that the orb weaver spider not only spins a golden web (where it gets its name) but the silk is stronger than Kevlar?
They are very similar to black widow webs for strength!
