The Old Folks Home

Just talked to Dr. Kelly. He said the surgery went well, he filled in the indentation in her right temple, closed the gaps that hadn't fused (they didn't have to use any bone from her...used some sort of putty), removed some bumps of calcification and reshaped her brow. We can go back to see her in an hour and she should be awake an hour after that.

Never having had someone scrape about on my skull.....

Will the pain be bad and last long?

The closest my kids got to what Maddie just had done was an impressive head first into a spruce tree. The boy in question couldn't sit up at all the first day, and for maybe only 10 minutes on the second day, but by maybe day 4 he was doing pretty well. As long as he didn't move the pain wasn't so bad. (He had some impressive swelling of his spine, but no concussion and no breaks).

Wonderful, honey. So happy for you.

The swelling will be bad, I can't even imagine the pain. She will have round the clock pain meds for the first few days, I imagine. Dr. Kelly said he numbed the incision as well.

tnspur, it is so difficult as a parent to see a child in pain, but the surgery is over with, and she is doing good. That's wonderful!

Cyn, CONGRATULATIONS! She is beautiful!

I am off tomorrow.
I am going to try to catch up on my projects.

**Put hens and chicks in the tractor
**Redesign the auto-feeder
**Cull down SC pullets by about half
**Select SC spring breeder cockerels
**Set up nest box in new pen
**Set up grit/shell feeders
**Take lots of pictures!

We'll see what gets done.......... It's awful hot out.........

What a little doll! Get her some fun and funny hats to wear so if she's at all self concious about the shaved head she can use them. While in nursing school I nannied for a little boy with the same condition. He ended up perfect. I'm behind. You go away for a day or two and there are a hundred posts to read! Her surgery is all over now . I must read on and see how she is! : )
