What kind of riding do you do with your horse?

-Kathy

I have done quite a few things. Started out being taught Cavelry style.... Western Saddle posting trot... Then I bought my first english and Argentine forward seat. then I got tired of being dumped off my horse and someone suggested Dressage.... Took lessons from a Morgan horse trainer named Marjorie Riding.... Once I finally learned how to use my seat I bought a Dressage saddle.... Took lessons from Marjorie's Protoge....

Her name was Lurena Bell. She took a Cow horse from Barn bum to Prix St Georges level. They could do Tiempe changes every four strides... ME... I never did get the hang of lead changes....

My horse was a three year old not ready for such things... so she taught me how to long line.... then how to Drive.... and I was hooked.

So My girl is a driving horse. I have ridden her maybe about ten times what an awesome experience.

Rocking Jolly Kateen ...... or Katee. Pure Percheron with a full tail... in this picture she was about seven. Not trained yet except to the Long lines.

Here she is helping me park the Forecart.

Here she is pulling my solid hickory Road cart. And yep thats me. I built the road cart.

the driving pictures are at the Del Mar Fair in 2001

I only found out later by looking at these pictures that I had her wayy over bitted. I had to switch to a Mullen mouth mouth piece from a broken mouthpiece... She stopped gapping and pointing her upper lip...

it was at this horse show that I found out that a draft horse can do a Capriole and almost take the wheels off the ground. All my fault...

A Capriole is when a horse rears and leaps up off the ground and kickes out with their hind feet. Its a Battle move in the Aires above the ground.... designed to unseat an opponent..... Notice the rider below has NO stirrups.

Deb, an off duty cop working as a security guard shot someone, the news I read didn't offer much details.

When did this happen? Oh found it. yep didnt see it on the news. In order to actually get current news My son and I have to go to the BBC.... Here unless its sensational and can sell TV ads we dont get good news.

Local news as in for our state Yep we get that ....

used to be when i was in high school the news was presented.... Who, What, Where, Why, and When.... No editorial or opinions just facts. I graduated in 73. The editorial stuff went in separate as the opinion of the Editor.... sheesh... News Papers are the same crap.

So no I didnt hear...

Is it just me, or does anyone else have de ja vu? Haven't we had the whole "soapy cilantro, sharp knife, substitutes" conversation before? I'm not complaining, its good info, it just triggered that "been there, done that" feeling.

Possibly, but I have not posted the tortilla soup recipe before. It was not in my posted folder.

Duck is delicious doesn't taste at all like chicken. I'm no cook but, many years ago the grocery store carried Maple Leaf 1/2 ducking fully cooked. You just had to heat & pour the orange sauce over it, and EAT. I felt like a gourmet and it was my favorite treat. $ 3.19 at that time and too much for a routine meal. Had it for all the holidays, then one day ate one and it didn't taste quite right, I ended up having headaches and dizzy. I think either it wasn't a fresh bird or maybe contaminated by pesticides or something. I never bought it again after that.

The same company offers them raw but, for a lot more money so don't want to try. I am famous for ruining a fully cooked turkey breast that ONLY had to be reheated. Can you understand why I switched to ice cream? Always comes out good = no heating, no clean up except for the spoon - I eat it down to the cardboard carton. If I get taken to a fancy shmancy restaurant some day, maybe I can order duck.

If people were meant to cook, why are there so many restaurants?????? I rest my case.
