The Old Folks Home

My little house silkie IS broody! She's only lived here for 12 days and she went broody yesterday. Her eggs are not fertile; I'll be exchanging them for some flock eggs later today. I put two in front of her and she pulled them under her with her two. I'll give Miss Sparkle a few more brown and green eggs to incubate.

Now you're gunna have house chicks!

Yah, well, that's nothing new. I always brood chicks in the house after incubating and hatching, at least for a few weeks. My second bedroom is The Office-Nursery-Infirmary. Then I USUALLY put them out into an integration coop. Beth and Punkin were presents to cheer me up after a beloved turkey poult died... And we had a major freeze for over a week (hey, for around here, 24 degrees is danged cold!) when they were "due" to go outside. 55 degrees inside at night to 20s would have been too much of a difference. They are outside during the day but still come inside at night. Almost five months old.... Eventually I will start putting them into the coop at night.

Sparkle decided the brooder bin I cleaned for her use as a bedroom was perfect to start her family.

ANyone find pictures of today's astrological events?? The footage in Russia was amazing--BUnnylady maybe you can fill i n the details on the event in 1908 where the asterod/metoero blew up and wiped out a stunning number of acres of trees. Good ness, no wonder so many people were hurt in RUssia.

SCG, I made the Ultimate Cheddar Bay Biscuits tonight for company and that recipe is a keeper! Thanks.

I might need to make some of those, feeling the need for some major comfort food.

I see we are getting ready to go to stage 2 picture, SCG.
