The Old Folks Home

"IF you've got teeth, thank a dentist!" Right Dar?
Today, my receptionists hubby came in with his front tooth knocked out. (work accident) I reimplanted it and stabilized it with resin. Now it's antibiotics until next week when I do a root canal on it and then crown it if it stays.

Ouch - how likely is it for replanted teeth to succeed?

When I was 8, the punk next door knocked me down on ice covered sidewalk. Lost the bottom half of both front teeth, I have suffered ever since (60 years) with a succession of crowns &root canal, now the other one needs a root canal also. But reading what I just wrote you - 60 years with these front teeth - I realize I should just be very grateful I have had them this long.

Only had one really good dentist in my life but alas, I didn't find him soon enough. About two years later he retired.

My DH was with me (stopped after an appointment in Morris) and I went straight up and ask for the pattern. She gave it to me as two other customers walked in. I told her how beautiful their sample of the row was, looked at the impatient hubby, and thanked her for the pattern. No sales pitch. She moved on to the two women without DHs "monitoring" them. I have a couple of others I will be stopping at

No DH on that trip!

Glad you didn't get the sales pitch! BF goes fabric shopping with me on occasion, and is a really good bolt holder. He usually gets bored about halfway through and wanders around. I'm lucky the fabric store here is part of a larger general store with many departments.

DH has gone to the fabric store with me on occasion. He typically rolls his eyes and laughs at me. I am like a kid in a candy store around fabric. ;-)

Many, many, many moons ago when DD was young, I used to take her to the fabric store so she could pick out material for her Barbies. When we got home I showed her how to cut patterns and sew the tops/pants/dresses. One needs to be multi-talented when being a single parent. But the look on her face when she sewed her first solo dress was worth it. I may have not been the best parent on the planet, but the kids know how to cook, sew, garden, can food, do basic carpentry/plumbing/electrical work and pretty much can take care of themselves.

Woodsdweller I want to let you in on a secret. No one is the best parent on the planet. ;) All of us fumble through raising children and all of us make mistakes doing it. Best we can do is to raise responsible citizens and love them as they are growing up. Sounds like you did exactly that so that makes you a great parent in my eyes! Wish that I had known how to sew when my kids were growing up. I would have shown them how to do it too. I am making up for lost time a little, I showed DD how to make the curtains for my granddaughter's bedroom when I was up visiting back in April.

Going back a couple of days to the Mosquito topic, Rodale press did a Story on mosquito repellants:

http://www.rodalesorganiclife.com/g...YourOrganicLife_-_072115_MosquitoReps_Article

apple cider vinegar is in it:

, and mint steeped in a 32 ounce bottle of apple cider vinegar for at least two weeks, so you’ll need to brew the repellant a while before a scheduled trip. For best coverage, apply to skin using a rag, not a spray bottle. Follow the full recipe here.
Pros: You can also use it as salad dressing while camping.
Cons: You hiking buddy may “accidentally” get lost in the woods to escape the smell.
