The Old Folks Home

They delivered, and set up my new front load washer this morning. I love it! My old one broke, and the repairs were only a little less than a new one. It was 16 years old, so we decided it would be better to replace, than repair. I'm so glad we did. I did the research, and checked prices. Famous Tate had the model I wanted, and the best price.

Sounds like a good deal to me. Any time you can save over a hundred dollars. Gonna buy a few chicks with that?

I think I bought hickory syrup from someone on here a few years back, they were selling hickory and something else syrup. It was very light and sweet and delicious.

It's always a good day at work when the groundskeeper calls you... apparently we have rogue chickens living out by the back gate. He thinks they're roosters and they've been there about 2 weeks and he was told to make them move along. And apparently my chicken keeping prowess is well known so he consulted me for both catching and disposal.

I explained to him that Sunday was rooster camp day and that I could do a few more if he'd catch them. He did ask that I help catch them since I was the expert but I explained that the government probably wouldn't like that filed under "other duties as assigned" while I got paid to be a pharmacist and that I had too much stuff to do to take leave to go help. I went out there after work but didn't see them, there was a small amount of poop under the tree so I'm guessing they roost there at night. He had set up a hilarious have-a-heart trap with lots of bread trails leading into it. I bet he'll get a skunk. I'm not taking a skunk home. I would also bet that his chicken sexing skills suck, and that they're likely hens. If they're hens I have a home set up already.

Scg it was me you got the hickory syrup from. I also made pecan syrup.
My dh wanted me to make some more this year. We have been out for quite a while.
Making chicken to go along with the hickory syrup tonight. :drool

Hopefully he will let you keep the hens. :pop

I've never had hickory syrup or pecan...Sounds delicious! :)

Only one of the pigs is for me.

I'll have lots of ham, too. A couple chops, some roasts, some ribs.... mmmh

So tramadol got rescheduled by the feds a few years ago from a non-controlled substance to a controlled substance, because clearly it does have dependency issues. The prescription drug monitoring programs allows those of us who dispense to not dispense to people who doctor and pharmacy shop - which helps keep drugs out of your neighborhood. Yes, I don't like big brother watching, either, but the other way wasn't working. I've been in pharmacy a long time and have seen the rise of prescription opioids as a commodity to buy and sell because the supply flowed freely and was "safe" (ie you knew what was in it). I much prefer being able to check for issues and refuse to fill a prescription than have no reason not to fill it and suspect those drugs are making their way into my neighborhood.
Mmmmm...one pig is good. Bacon and porkchops :drool Too much deliciousness!
In 'good news' DW hasn't noticed I have another hen setting, been a couple weeks now. My black naked neck hen. Lol.
Lol...had to mention this to DH so he "knows" I'm not the only one.:lau
Scg I like your pig pic!

Someone around here was offering free pigs mom, dad and babies! hahhaa They changed their minds.
See...now I'm the crazy one who would be asking DH if we could get those pigs. :ya
Thankfully DH keeps the sanity by saying umno.gif

Maybe there will be pigs at the back gate at work.
Those of you that aren't allowed to have pigs, the butchering really wasn't that bad. I'd say the raising was super easy because a good friend did it with her meat hogs, so all I had to do was give her money and occasionally watch them when she went out of town... come to think of it, I think that's the best way to have pigs.

I am going to make some pecan this fall after they fall from the trees. I do love the pecan also. :drool
