Wow, my dog is eating and drinking! And he even jumped up on the love seat he lays on! I have hope! I thought for sure i would be having him put down today.

I really thought i had killed him. For a tiny little dog, he is tough as nails!

My dad tells stories of when he was younger, there were a couple packs of coon hounds that would roam loose and chase cars, they wouldn't move for you if you stopped, so they just started running over the entire pack when they would run out in front of the car... He said you could actually feel them hitting the undercarriage, but, there were never any less of them next time they ran over the pack, so presumably it didn't bother them much.

had these saint bernards at the farm over from us they would always be out chasing cars
they would get hit stand shake it off bark at cars one day finally the female was killed the
male tried forever after to kill those cars

So glad about your dog maybe he was feeling a little "shocky," and wanted to be alone, and not hungry.Then decided to get back at it, before the cats took over.

Our dogs chase cars going down they highway when they get bored. UGH!
They have been hit and we have lost 2 doing it. They never stop!

I had a Pyrenees and that is how he died, hit by a truck pulling a trailer. We did not see the incident but heard the dog yelp. And we heard the truck and trailer rattling by before that. I rushed out and there he was in the ditch. He never chased cars, only buses but he often crossed the road to guard the land over there. He was still alive when we found him but died soon after we got him into the garage. The two of us had all we could do to drag him on a tarp and into the garage. That dog must have weighed 200 pounds. Boy could he run! I once saw him light out after a stray dog in our goat pasture. It was like watching a lion take down a gazelle! I later saw the stray limping off into the distance.

Oh, and i have heard of breaking dogs from chasing cars by leaning out the window and squirting them with a dilute solution of ammonia.

My folks ended up with this dog from Ma's other half Wayne his son a cocker dumb as the day is long wanted to chase cars he got to close to Ma's opened the car door sent him rolling but not dead he never chased cars again

The first family dog we had was very smart. We had just got her (I think she was 2 years old ) from the pound, and sitting with her on the front steps of the house...just talking to her, getting her used to us. Neighbor kids came over to see her, and she spooked. .. she actually busted her leash and darted into the busy street in front of our house!

A car clipped her on the shoulder, and she spun around and ran back to us.

After that we never had to leash her. She would stand at the curb when walking with us, and look so carefully both ways before she crossed. She was super bonded to us too after that... probably thought she would get another big smack if she ever tried to run away again.
