The Old Folks Home

Buddy of mine had the brother to the boxer I had. Hit in the road as a pup and broke its pelvis. Dog didn't want anything to do with the road after that, lay right down and shake.
His grandma's house was 50yrds away, saw him carry the big ole dog there many times Lol!

Another friends dog was hit many times. Dog was missing a foot in the front and on the opposite side in the back was missing the whole leg. Had trouble walking around in the house, only used footless leg to keep his balance, but get him outside and he'd get in rhythm and chase cars like a lightning bolt on two legs.

Gee I didn't even think that a pyr would chase anything like a car. Both of ours want nothing to do with vehicles and if on the road they'd cross to the far side of the ditch away from the road. I find it a huge relief that ours aren't interested in vehicles. We've alway had collie crosses so chasing vehicles is par for the course for them. Its refreshing to have a breed that doesn't. :clap

We did have a purebred border collie and I worked with that dog to keep him from running out to the road and chasing vehicles. He would run across our road parallel to our yard with the vehicles, but not onto the road...lol. The two dogs were goofing around and he jumped to the side right behind the tractor tire as DH was backing up with the loader tractor. DH felt terrible but it was just an unfortunate accident. He was hurt beyond help. I held him until DH brought the rifle and I put him down.

Max, our border collie/rough collie stray is very smart and very cautious. He looks both ways a couple of times before he ventures out on the road to travel between the houses. And he waits if someone's coming until they pass. I worry now that he's getting older and his faculties aren't as strong..but he stays home on his own now instead of running with us.

Poor mama, have kittens and that's the thanks you get. Sounds like kids...
First day of school yesterday. Our youngest's first day kindergarten.
I work 2nd so I asked him this morn how his day went, asked what he had for lunch, few other easy questions. No answers....
Before they went out for the bus asked again, 'not telling you' ...
Mom says see dad I told you school turns them into buttholes, he's ruined just like the rest of them :hit

So weird being home alone, wife at work, oldest working, all other kids in school. I can't even figure out what I want to do yet. Raining so nothing outside. Kinda odd not having a rugrats to wish were all in school :hmm
Now I feel old...
:hugs Go out and sit in the coop with some treats. The chickens will give you some love.
