It was very nice here today, so we watched Thor!Yes, it was very windy here today. 21MPH with gusts to 37. One thing I've learned about my mixed breed bantams is that they do not like the wind. My standards will stand out in a gale as long as the temperature is mild with their feathers going ever which direction but not the bantams.
Thinking DH and I will head out to the timber tomorrow and gather leaves for the coops While the weather holds.
@Alaskan and family are TOUGH people!
Alaskan has trained them well.
Cold here, Al. We got the heat cranked but I suspect we will run out of pellets in the stove before the morrow and not want to venture out of bed. It will be like a marital game of chicken. We will both pretend we are asleep until one of us can't stand it and gets up to fill it.
The cold water tap is giving grief. We may have to change it.![]()

good to see ya!I got caught up again.
My friend who's a massage therapist and I have discussed the effects of sugar on inflammation! Most specifically the joints, synovial fluid...that type of thing. SUCH interesting stuff.Sorry I haven't replied to this sooner @Arielle. Spent the morning cutting up a turkey for the freezer and boiling off scraps for the dogs and just set down.
I used tumeric while I was fighting Lyme disease. I probably should try it again and see what happens.
Yep, it has been proven that a low sugar diet will counter inflammation. It's also the hardest thing to give up. I try to cut back. At 64 it's hard after a lifetime of eating what you want when you want it. My goal is to go with more natural sweeteners this next year. And I do feel better with a lower carb diet.
I did weight watchers once mainly to help a friend out who had about 50 pounds to loose while I had only ten or so. The big thing I learned besides lower carbs is smaller servings. I did a low carb diet once just for inflammation control and lost something like 15 pounds in two weeks. It's effective for weight lose but not too good when you are physically active.
Oh those osteophytes! First thing I do is flex, flex, flex to keep those nerves moving so they don't get impinged. My sympathies on the MCL.
I tore mine in a skiing accident as a 5th grader. ACE bandage for 4 weeks, but knee is weak and has been so for the 40+ years afterwards. Compensation (and probably lots of posting when riding horses) have led to a bit of interesting xrays recently. The tech asked "So... Is one knee more sore than the other?" Osteophytes now. Oy. Still getting by on Turmeric, hyaluronic acid, occasional Naproxen and avoiding really cold weather. (Okay... and some bourbon on occasion)
Happy birthday, Cynthia! Heckuva way to celebrate, though. Hope you're mending is noneventful.
I shouldn't say zero down. That's not correct. I think we maybe still have pay-as -you -go phones. We used to. Most people get their phones on contracts. I see they have a larger assortment at the moment. Pics explain better...lol.The phone carriers do not do zero down and then a monthly service charge now, except maybe for very low level phones. They charge a fee for the phone that equals or is more than the cost of the phone. Another way they get you is on sales tax. If you get a refurbished phone that will cost you 300.00 over two years in monthly charges, they charge sales tax on the retail value of the phone-- Say 800.00. For me, that is 8.25% * $800.00= $66.00 in sales tax. If Amazon charges sales tax it would be .0825 * $300= $25.35.
Those are charges paid upfront too. Of course California has high sales tax.
I thought I quoted someone else. Hmmm.We all need one of these. My FIL has one out by his barn, never froze in decades of use.

I turn it on and nothing happens until I'm almost done running the hot. Sometimes the cold water comes out. Sometimes it doesn't. I'm going to check out that Youtube vid a ways back. It's never been the most quality tap.just frugal and grumpy.
They are just lazt6... being cold is SO MUCH LESS work than keeping the fire going.
But they are good kids...they keep me in coffee and food.
feather blankets! The super big fluffy warm ones.
dripping?
I thought he was asking for pictures of the soap making. You were dressed while ya did that, weren't ya?
(there are some places that lye should not go)
