I wish the biddies were laying well. 60ish girls and I get 2 to 3 eggs a day right now. Even the duck hasn't laid in a few days. Last year I was able to make egg nog I had so many eggs.
I just finished cleaning the coop (s/p mite treatment 5 weeks ago). I still haven't seen any mites on the girls since I treated them with FrontLine Plus. I will do one more FrontLine treatment before the winter really sets in, just in case, and I'll have a full report back afterwards on the efficacy of a one time treatment of FrontLine plus a good coop cleaning/treatment (versus weeks and weeks of permethrin or ivermectin treatments).
I'm trying to decide if I want to get my goat(s) pregnant this year or wait another year. I think they've made weight (I need to verify that this weekend) but I'm not sure I have time to milk them once or twice a day. I'm sure I'd find time but it seems like I'm so busy and already stressed out. But I also want milk. And cheese. Mmmhhh. My goats seem like they'd both be good milkers, especially Caramel though. I've been getting them ready for milking daily. Caramel loves to be fake milked and stands very still and wags her tail so excitedly when I tell her what a good milker she's going to be. Pippy still fights it just a little bit. I have probably 17 more days before they go back into heat again.
