The Old Folks Home

Thanks for the well wishes.

I got the flock out of there.

I am sitting in the lounge at Manila airport waiting for my connecting flight home.

Its going to be a crazy busy week but a crazy busy week with my family is better than a mundane week in orange county any time.

Ok guys, and gals. I used to be able to delete old posts on my Profile page..with the X on the right. Now, it won't do it. Is anyone else having this problem, or am I behind the times again with a change? Thanks!
It quit working for me too, but awhile back.

Ok, there are a couple of you that are going to smack me on my patties after saying this.

I've known so many people/families that have eaten wrong all their lives, just to live into their 80's and 90's. And I mean wrong! Everything we are told not to eat, they ate. Fat into the skillet. Butter on toast, butter in the hot cereal..and lots of sugar. Nice thick creamy milk. A lot of eggs. Most of them were, or are, on another side of my family. So, I'm really thinking longevity is a real thing..as in genetics. My sister's family all live into their 90's, not just a kidding here. I ate the food that her grandmother cooked..(my half sister) and I remember all of that bacon..almost every morning. My husbands mother always had a beef roast and rolls with lots of mayo in the house. Her and his dad both lived into their 80's. His dad ate a lot..a lot of candy. Those drs. must have been giving them something right to keep them alive. Unless eating that way isn't so bad for you after all? Who really knows? I used to diet often, I have read so many different things about how this is good for you, and this isn't, then read where yes it was good for you and that wasn't. ??

Hey oz, hope you have a safe trip. :)
This isn't a fluke-- there is a reason why it works.

My health has improved since I dumped the crap food and eat real food: salads, fats, real fats like butter and olive oil, beef and fish and lamb and chicken. NOT margarine. Not sugars-- americans eat 150 lb of sugar now each-- years ago it was much less. And add in all the high carb foods on top of that-- you didn't mention that your family ate that.

My grandfather didn't eat junk food but did have a sweet after his dinner meal-- he lived into his 90's and died when he tripped carrying in a new TV.

Look at the American diet BEFORE 1920-- or before 1890--- only the rich with gluttonous eating had the health issues that are prevalent today among all people in the US.( obesity, gout, heart attacks, strokes, etc)

(Salt-- I eat a low carb diet and it is a diruretic BECAUSE the typical american diet causes the body to hold water; when I switch to a low carb diet, my body kicks out the extra water and takes the salt with it. My terrible legs cramps can be stopped by eating salt.WHen I am not on BYC, I live on the low carb forum along with others that live the low carb life. )

I was an a middle school event today and the snacks provided to our groups was twizzlers (licorice and strawberry), potato chips, cheese nips, water, and juice packs. Faced with this my son ignored his apple and cheese and dove in. Yes, the wonderful taste of this junk food was prefered to the healthier cheese and apples that he normally eats for lunch.

The people of the 1800s died in their 50s.

Quote: But NOT of heart attacks and strokes and diabetes II. ANd not every one died by the age of 50. Many were very old people. Daniel BOone was pretty old; Ben Franklin and many more. We have great health care to deal with infection and vaccinations to deal with whooping cough, et al and now cures for ailments like apendicitis, etc. BUT not effective fixes for gout, arthrochlerosis and the related afflictions.DIet is a big driver behind all those. More doctors are using diet and exercise to treat arterial diseases instead of jumping to cutting.

Just 6 yrs ago I asked a brilliant stent sugeon about the benefits of Co Q -10---- he passed over my question IMO because he didn't know the answer.

Perhaps you can explain why a friend with RA must take RA medications ONLY when she doesn't follow WeightWatchers?

I guess I am lured in. I AM GONNA TRY HATCHING ONE MORE TIME. With the NYD hatchalong.
Now just to find some eggs. I would love barnyard bantams....or OEGB. hm..........what to choose. I am so glad I am off school for a whole month.
I was thinking about it, but the babies are just 3 weeks old now and with the holidays here already I'm just gonna wait till spring.

Doesn't feel like spring out there. Just came in from the chores and it's 11 degrees out there, plus windy. I think we've officially hit the time when I can't leave water outside overnight. It's frozen solid. The ducks were displeased. Every morning they run out of the duck house, go to their bowl and submerge their heads. This morning they went to submerge their heads and *CRACK* of their bills on the ice. I was unable to break it and was going to go get some hot water. They were too impatient.

Gryeyes, how are you feeling? How's the property?
