The Old Folks Home

Went to my annual skin checkup at the dermatologist. Only to find out he ONLY does surgery now. But, referred me to someone even farther away - no way the senior bus goes out there.

Told him I have been having a hard molt since summer. I've been finding my hair on everything, rugs, towels, clothes, bedding, shoes-floors and carpeting in rooms I don't even enter (except to clean up hair everywhere).

He decided his referral person would be able to determine if I have thyroid problems or alopecia. I think it was more 2018 fraught with bad to worse situations. But on 2019 New Year's Day, I knew it would continue and it has, with no let up. I'm sure high anxiety, stress and poor diet could cause hair to jump ship.

Also showed him, among all the snow white hair, I am getting long strands of black hair. Never had black at any time in my life. Used to be dark brown with a red cast to it. Wonder if all of this is connected to all the radiation from many years of Breast x-rays,
kidney and bladder x rays. etc etc. doctors wanted done . :th

BTW dermatologist noticed a small reddened area on side of chin. (okay so I'm a pimple popper) -said if it doesn't go away in a week, I should go to the new(?) doctor and get a biopsy.

I have the eye doctor appointment in April, the dentist, and dexa bone density scan & mamagram in May. Aug. appointment with urologist (had a kidney scan last year) said I had a cyst on one kidney but, it's nothing- why does nothing always cost so much?
Okay guys end of rant. Sorry but, I needed it. Carry on.

That was a good rant, Diva. Even though you were told the cyst on the kidney is nothing, it does have to be monitored. Cysts can be unpredictable, as far as growth rate is concerned. They're just making sure it's staying a small nothing, and not growing into a problem. A woman I know began losing her hair. It was alopecia, which is common with the women on one side of her family. She bought shampoo, and conditioner at Sam's Club that's the equivalent of Rogaine. Her hair is still thin, but the hair products do help significantly.

You might need to take an Uber to the appt.! Your son from the not named tech company could help set that up for you

@drumstickdiva :hugs I can sympathize with you about the hair loss. The methotrexate is hitting my hair harder than I like and thinning it out. My hair has always been thick but not any longer. DH wouldn't care if I shaved my head but it would be a bit extreme for me.

Tomorrow is chick day. :clap we pickup the babies in the morning. And TRex is happily sitting on bantam eggs. I won't have to get beat up for at least a week when I candle for the first time.

very aloof neighborhood - think people move out here for the solitude, not to be friendly.

I've been offered rides by men, YOUNG and old, not from the neighborhood and politely declined. Too many forest preserves around here to get dumped in.
