I couldn't resist a little puppy cuteness today!
I seriously think that the neighbors that I sold chicks to last spring had to have "donated" a rooster back to me. I was out doing barn chores when I noticed Joe Black (my black AM roo) wooing one of the ladies. When I walked out of the barn towards the chicken pen I saw a black AM roo. Huh?
I know Joe was still in the barn because I had just seen him in there. I KNOW I only had ONE black AM roo. I kept only Joe because he was such a well behaved and nice looking roo for breeding. If you put these two side by side you wouldn't know which was which (even I am not sure which one is Joe between he two). Now we do have nearby neighbors that have chickens but none of them have pure AM's. They have leghorns and stars but no AM's. The only thing I could come up with is that they "rehomed" him with us. I don't know for sure so of course I am not going to "accuse" them of it but it is the only thing that makes sense. I honestly don't even know when they might have done it. I am pretty sure it was in the last week though because I had them all out last weekend to range and I don't think he was with them then.

SCG that is the thing, I think either the flock thinks it is Joe or he has been around long enough for them to accept him. No fighting, no fussing. He is just walking around the place like he lives here. I am thinking carrots, onions and maybe a little sage?

I am positive I only kept Joe around. Any other black roo I had we either ate or gave away for butchering. I swear it has to be his son since they just look so much alike. If you put my two lav AM roos next to each other, I know which one is Squirrel. They are easy to tell apart. So glad to hear that you got a good roo. Joe is very well behaved and so is the other one. Has to be his son, it is the only thing that really makes sense.
