Okay why didn't you guys tell me how funny ducklings are. I picked up 3 muskovy chicks the awhile back, and yesterday (30 day quarantine over) they went out to live in the coop.Their hilarious, the brown girl has been named Darnyou because she can get out of anything and into everything. My pullet EE Hawk has decided shes a duck and follows them everywhere.
On a less fun note several of my unwanteds have bumble foot. I started treatment on the healthier 2 yesterday. Should I put the 2 skinny ones through it now or wait till they gain some weight? The procedure seems pretty traumatic for an already stressed body?
Thanks
Why would we warn you about ducklings? They're not cute or anything.
I don't actually treat bumble until it becomes really big and painful. If it's a pretty smallish bumble you can let it wait a bit for your birds to get more healthy. I know it's painful for them both to be untreated and to be treated, but I wouldn't want to dig around in a biddies foot if they were weak. Most of mine shake, whether from being scared or from the pain, I do not know.
