The Old Folks Home

Crop failure is "one of those things" in any type of agriculture, but it can really suck the joy out of an enterprise when it happens (don't get me started on Poinsettias!). My sympathies, Oz.

The link says it is seen in other types of poultry, too. Any idea how your quail were exposed? I assume you are implementing measures to protect the rest of your flock as well.

Sorry Oz about your huge loss. In other news my baby chick that was attacked is still alive and faring well. She seems like she will make it through, but still looks a nasty, hot mess ;)

Here are a couple pictures of favorite bits of my new property.

The run area fencing going up.

I like places like your new property. My Mom has a place up past Shingletown that is at 4500 ft.

It is a great place--I need to talk her into raising some chickens up there.

I just went to say the same thing - who digs post holes in flip flips??? You need steel tipped boots. You need gloves, Maybe you better wear a helmet also. Geez Linda, too much heaven on your mind.

Come down to earth Linda - who is gonna take care of your animals if you end up in traction - heaven forbid!

Oz, so sorry..after all of those little ones making it here..hope you figure things out for a better outcome next time around. !

Linda.. I notice a beautiful place first, then think of predators? I'm sure you have some ideas as to how to keep those birds safe.
