The Old Folks Home

Rooster collars? Rooster collars? How come I haven't heard of these. Oh man, I can't wait to hear how they work for you. Going to go look them up now! How exciting would that be if they did, and didn't bother the Roo at all when it came to him doing his deed with the girls. Oh man, I can think right away what kind of LF Rooster I would have in my back yard. Well, a toss up, either a Marans, or an EE, or Ameraucana.

Lauren Taylor makes them. They do leave room for the Rooster but do not allow him to take a full breath. They still crow but it is quiet. When I get mine I will see how quite they are.

Bluedogsonly (Dr. James) has several decrowed roosters available right now and more coming up all the time. It's a bit pricey but my neighbors don't even know I have a roo.I talked to Dr James yesterday and he had a blue Andalusian, a splash bantam( mines brother), a serama, and couple EE.I am ordering another from him probably an EE.http://www.quietroosters.wordpress.com is his site.

I think that Diego would explode if he couldn't crow. He's the crowingest thing I've ever heard and will crow at anything...Prince Eric, my brother, the cat, the rooster that lives somewhere in the area that I can barely hear...he even crows at his own echo. If we didn't live out in the sticks I think I'd have to duct tape his little beak shut.

Daryl, is a active little guy. He crows at everything to but it comes out as a whisper. He doesn't seem to know how quiet he is cause after he crows he struts around doing the"I'm the man" dance. He is so funny to watch.

Mine have crowing competitions!!

Fortunately I live far into th woods and the sound is well toned down by the time it reaches a neighbor. Having Blue BOy's Black Boy cooped 20 feet from my bed/head is a little trying as he starts at . . . any time he likes!! lol

My two boys also have crowing competitions. Will my BO always sound hoarse, or does his crow get better? I can definately tell them apart...Eric's crow is much deeper than Diego's, but Diego's sounds clear and LOUD.

The collar is like the surgery. It does not stop them from crowing and it is not a shock collar. It does not let them take in as much air so it is quieter.

I will take vidoes of mine when I get the collars.
