I sold the pair of Bourbon Red turkeys I hatched, in the Cinco de Mayo hatchalong a few years ago, to retired school counselor. He said the tom was better than a watch dog. People would drive up, the tom would run, full-tilt run, up to the car. More often than not, the people would stay in the car until he came out to "rescue" them.
My spouse has that problem with the chickens when she comes home from work. 2 days ago she opened the door before she was ready to get out and got a chicken in her lap. I'm guessing it was Echo the treat hog. Yesterday it took her so long to collect all her stuff (so as to avoid another chicken in the car incident) that the chickens gave up and wandered off ... until she opened the car door. Then Zoom the thundering herd headed her way. Very sad, she either forgot to eat her apple or forgot to bring the core home (she wasn't sure which).
