Chicki!

The blue sweater would be perfect. :lau

They are both boys.

I like the T-shirt band idea to tighten the shirt up.

I had considered buying dog jackets (goat sized) incase the kids needed them, but was so sure that we would be able to find old kid stuff if needed. Still odd. Ah well.

Hummmmmmmm

I am having to work on a pair of kids (goat babies)

Blasted weather...having issues keeping them warm, and bonded to mom, and eating.

Hummmmm

My shirt is now wet with baby goat pee.

Having the kids take them out again for another feeding from mom.....

We set up a warming box with heating pads...hoping this works.

Awwwww...cutie goats!!!

At least they're not heavy calves? We had a calf in the house.

Baby lambs never were bad to bring in. Calves...not so nice.

Exactly what I tried to do.... and failed at.

I was sure that we would have toddler vests somewhere...nope.....

Did find toddler sleep shirts .... cut them to fit, but couldn't figure out how to cinch them up... I was worried that if I duct taped them closed it might squeeze their middles too much...

Dunno.....

Still not sure why I couldn't find any vests....

But the heating pads are working....so far so good.
The clothes for goats are cute and they'd probably last longer. The wool grower magazine in Canada stocks these woolovers made from wool...lol I always kept a couple in stock...they eventually wear out but they work. I'm not sure if baby lambs are the same size as a kid though. My lambs averaged about 9-10 pounds.

Alaskan   the  $$ tree sometimes has  little  sweaters  for dogs  -  how long(from neck to tail) do they have to be for goatlets?

Kind of you Diva!

@Wickedchicken6 nice link, low cost too. :D

I am thinking I should find a better something for the future..... but I am first going to look for those little kid vests.... gotta be here.... somewhere

I think I am set for this time around, so can wait a bit on finding something.

Everytime we go out (about every 30 min) they are either snuggled nice and deep and warm in the hay, or actually bouncing around a bit and nursing on mom.

Even as a first time mom, she just couldn't be better! She keeps nuzzling them, licking their bottoms, standing nice and still and wide for them to nurse...just golden!

Good crispy morning everyone

a balmy -10 F when I got up but it's actually above zero now, and windy, again.

Anyone heard from SCG yet? I hope she is still with us and didn't lose her power. The footage on the news of the storm looks pretty gnarly as the kids say.

Well, I did the Cackle Hatchery thing. My intent was to get their Backyard Special but you can only get 3 pullet chicks. I contacted them to see if a couple more could be added but was told "no but I could just order another Special" (at twice the money of course).
Back to exploring the website. Ok, so I could order any breed (the Special limits the breeds because it's a set price for the package) I wanted just had to order at least 3 of each breed and there is an extra $20 charge for special handling/shipping for any order under 15 chicks.
Well, There were 3 breeds I wanted, that's 9 chicks. Did the math and if I got 6 more pullet chicks that would eliminate the extra fee and not add anymore cost to the order AND I am still spending less than if I bought 2 Specials!!! Makes perfect sense (aka chicken math) to me!!!
By the time I got done trying to explain this to the DH he just rolled his eyes at me and walked away

It's even better because I had already talked to my neighbor (aka crazy chicken lady) and explained that to order I would most likely have to order more than I wanted to get them to ship and she was more than happy to buy any "leftovers" so if all goes well with the shipping I should recoup my shipping costs from her. Deal!

So, now coming are (all pullets, hopefully) 4 BA's, 4 SLW's, 4 Speckled Sussex and 3 GLW's. I would have preferred a couple others but they were already sold out for the year of course.

I delayed the ship until early May in hopes of better weather.

Won't get an exact ship date for a week or so.
