The Old Folks Home

OK... so my question is how are all you folks making ANY clothing last more than 6 months?:th I find that simply astounding! I admit I do have a few T-shirts that are "serviceable" that are over a year old, but those are the Sunday go-to-meeting T-s that never (rarely) get worn because I don't go-to-meetings. I can't get a pair of jeans to last more than ~6 months... At that point they are perfectly religious (hole-y), near see through, and basically thread bare. I buy jeans in pairs (or threesomes) so I can alternate them through the washing cycle every so often (and still have the/an other pair since washing can take over a week ). With three pair, I can avoid doing laundry for almost a month! T-shirts on the other hand are pretty much one time use items as they get sweat soaked.

Of course I don't spend big $$ on clothes either... I don't buy the Carhart brand or any of the other name brands. I buy the cheap stuff as I know I'll destroy it in no time at all.

As to used underwear... must be a law...because they never sell them at the thrift stores.

I'm pretty sure it has to do with sanitation. You won't find any sex toys at thrift shops, either.
(Can I get a collective "Ewwwwwwww"?)

I just had the nicest experience with Chewy.com.

I, too, was leery like Diva about this site. That was until my dogs had to go on a prescription renal diet that was really expensive to purchase via either the vet or adjacent pet store. The kibble was cheaper (and fresher!) and it was free delivery. Biscuits were half the price of our local Petsmart. Plus signing up for autoship knocked another percentage off the purchase price. Of course, what you end up saving on your pets ends up being spent in another arena, like those fun (NOT) unexpected vet bills.

Latestarter, I'm really hard on clothing, too. I rip holes in them and stain them (or bleach them) with incredible regularity. Most of my house t shirts have holes, and most of my jeans are holey. I also routinely get "attacked" by walls and arm rests (etc) at work and rip my clothes.
I'm hoping these Duluths last a long time. However, I really really like the quick dry feature.

Dsqard is on her way up here for the weekend, she's in Mass now. Should be here within 3 or 4 hours!

:wee

That's why the bulk of our everyday clothes jeans, shorts, etc are bought at the local Good Will along with 'at home' t-shirts. The only clothes I buy new are the camo cargo pants that we like to wear in the fall and winter, dress clothing and some shirts. I get sick when I buy a new pair of jeans and a year later discover that they wore out faster than the Good Will jeans I buy. I usually make two trips to GW. One in the spring, one in the fall and restock. Anything worn from the last visit goes into the rag bag.

Next month I'll be making my fall run.....I'm easily entertained, LOL.

woke up a bit late on my first cup of coffee but I broke down and bought from llbean
went to button old navy jeans (first new in 5 years) couldn't get the darn button done up even laying on the bed :oops: turned 55 130lbs never got over 100 till then and WOW lost an inch 5ft broke down and bought 4 pair of it fit 30 waist bought 3 more one flannel lined :bow:yesss:
and yes a eeewwwwwww from me also

I have been buying mens jeans (I'm a girl) and wearing them, they are much more sturdy than womens jeans and actually have decent pockets! AND if you know what size you wear, you can grab and pair of jeans off the shelf and they will FIT! With womens jeans you have to try on every single pair even if they are the same size, cut, and brand...

But, they are getting ready to make us wear business casual at work... so I guess I'll be looking for some mens cargos in 100% cotton due to ALSO being required to wear 100% cotton for the jobs that I do... I hate shopping...

I stopped being able to wear mens jeans back in highschool... Now I have to go to OMAR the tent maker.... :th I do buy good quality and they will last me two to three years or till the seat rips out...

Cathryns which owns Lane Bryant. Carries more pratcial clothes for people who have to move around.

and Yes I pay fifteen dollars for underware
