The Old Folks Home

So I got my quarterly Email catalog from Murray McMurray the other day and for grins and giggles clicked the link...

:barnie :barnie Before I even realized what I was doing I had added 75 birds to my cart:eek: Two collections of 25 each (brown egg layer collection x 25 and mixed <str8 run> heavies x 25 plus 5 each pullets from five other specified breeds), calculated shipping and planned for a late March delivery when all breeds/collections selected would be available... :th

Luckily, I came to my senses before pushing the order button :p I'm gonna be right in the middle of goat kidding season then... I have no coop built, nor a really good place to build one big enough for 75 birds... (~16' x 20')

I have no idea what I would do when the time came to be collecting 4 dozen+ eggs a day:idunno Not to mention the almost $400 cost... Shipping alone was over $75. What the heck am I thinking ordering 75 birds?

Saved! Came to me senses just in the nick of time!

we have 2 on 7, one is 6 moths older than the other both desktops.. 1 all in one on 10
BF's machine is upgraded on it's own to 8 ???

The machines insist on taking over. There was an old movie "Electric Dreams," where the guy had his computer run all his electronics. I won't add any spoilers but, you should see what the device decided to do.

Ls I think this is why more people are just using their cell phones instead of computers. They are not as much of a Hassel.
I have a phone coming that is 5.5" and I'm hoping to use my computer less.
But now the cell phones sell for nearly as much as a computer.
I'm getting my daughter's last year's phone since she upgraded.
She did not like the new Motor Z because the annoying bixby can not be turned off. So she bought the new Galaxy. She's sending me the Moto Z with bixby.

I agree that phones do have problems but I don't think as many as the new Windows 10.
And if MS is going to start charging a quarterly fee I will likely stop using my computer all together. I also do not and will not pay for MS word.
I will either use my phone or smart tv.
Only one of my kids has a computer they use very little. They all use their phones.

Phones are just easier (except for the typing with big thumbs) works fast everything in mobile format, usually no ads gumming stuff up. I just have a cheap dollar store tracphone samsung galaxy sky and it works great. Same size as the other galaxy's. Was less than $100, don't remember but probably closer to $40 or DW wouldn't have bought it for me lol, not going to find a laptop with good built in camera for that $.
Awesome games to play at work also lol.
I heard mobile networks are going to come out with 5g in the next yr.

Morning everyone.

It's raining here. I'd much rather have rain than snow but they are calling for that and ice later on in the day when the temps drop back to seasonal norm.

Had a busy day yesterday and was away from home most of it. Doctors appointments, shopping. When we get to the closest big (by Missouri standards) city, we always have a list of things to get and stops to make. By the time we get home, get things put away and grab a bite to eat I'm ready for some down time sitting on the sofa staring out into space....where I remember something I wanted to pickup and forgot.:barnie

I have both a desk top and a tablet. I love the tablet. It has a removable keyboard so I can do touch screen or conventional keyboard typing. I use it a lot while laying in bed to read from Kindle without the keyboard but I like being able to sit back on the sofa, relaxe and use it. It operates on Android and I have really come to like that operating system.

As for the desk top. Boy my older eyes love the big screen on the monitor. It operates using Ubuntu. DH totally removed MS from it. Don't miss it at all. DH has it on his desktop mainly because a lot of the grafting and engineering programs he uses for his 3D printer have to have MS to operate.

We hate giving MS more money, it's like, okay, how much do you really need? But sometimes you got to deal so we use it. Our phone is a smart phone. When we were moving we relied on it a lot but now that we are only on the road locally we went to a smaller gig service plan so we can use it sitting in doctors offices or in the car.

It's frightening scary how dependent we are on the Internet. Us oldsters would be able to deal without it easier than the young people would.

Remember that episode of South Park where the Internet did a crash and burn? Unfortunately more fact than fiction to that episode.
