Brace yourself. When I worked doubles, it was one nurse to 60+ patients. When I worked my regular shift at the rehab center it was 1 nurse to 33 patients. When I worked the hospital they would apologize because I had 6 patients to take care of. When they said that I laughed till I was in tears and told them what my usual patient load was. They were astounded and told me it was impossible. I told them it wasn't. You had a schedule, you stuck to it and prayed that nobody fell, died or suffered a need for emergency care.
And yes, we looked up the health dept rules, they were compliant.
