The Old Folks Home

She's now happily snoring while I determine what I am going to do with my newfound freedom.
Take a nap??

IL had manditory overtime for nurses. You didn't have a choice. 30 minutes before your shift was up you would be told that you would be working a double.
I'm sorry but that is just plain dangerous. Just what we need, medical slip ups due to fatigue.

The scary thing @bruceha2000, is that the labor laws in IL said that legally they could force you to work 20 hours straight if they wanted to. To leave was akin to desertion of post and you would loose your license. There was a loophole though. If you told them you were too tired to safely do your job and to attempt to do it would prove dangerous to the welfare of your patients, they could not 'make' you stay. I was working as a temp at a big hospital one evening and they approached me and asked if I wanted to pull another shift. Heck, I was making 24 dollars an hour but I told them no. It was a 40 minute drive home and rather not risk driving home half asleep. They pressed. I finally told them this is why I was working for a temp agency. I could say NO and that was it. I was not under the mandatory overtime rule.

It is just plain soggy here and still raining. Of course the chickens are out slogging around, drinking out of mud puddles and looking for worms. Sometimes I wonder why I bother to give them fresh water, LOL. @CapricornFarm and @Peep_Show thanks but a nap is doubtful. Too much to do here today. The 4+week old SDW fledglings need moved to a bigger pen. I was counting on the weather being warmer and a tad drier at this point in time but mother nature has thrown me a curve. Guess I'll be moving my portable grow out coop I got for Christmas into the hobby room and find some place to set it up for them.

I am not hurting but phone that is just a year old old Moto g is dead froze in android starting talking to boost we booted my Galaxy prevail I had dumped in water back year ago she came up just fine smaller screen wont be doing much with it

Better than having medical slip ups because you had 1 nurse for 16 patients.

Brace yourself. When I worked doubles, it was one nurse to 60+ patients. When I worked my regular shift at the rehab center it was 1 nurse to 33 patients. When I worked the hospital they would apologize because I had 6 patients to take care of. When they said that I laughed till I was in tears and told them what my usual patient load was. They were astounded and told me it was impossible. I told them it wasn't. You had a schedule, you stuck to it and prayed that nobody fell, died or suffered a need for emergency care.

And yes, we looked up the health dept rules, they were compliant.

Micro sorry you did not sleep well. I hope you will get some tonight.

I did not sleep well either. My ribs were hurting all night. I told dh I want to go get them x-rayed tomorrow. And see what the doc in the box suggests.
Well they really don't do anything for broken ribs any more but they might give you a few days worth of pain pills. Cost us $1700 bucks to determine i had a spiral fracture of my toe. I knew it was busted badly but thought maybe the bone was splintered because it hurt worse than any toe i had previously broken.

Omg, that is worse than working as a CNA in the nursing home with 40 patients. Its a wonder they can get anyone to work under those conditions!

I think the same rib is broke in the front and in the back. I am concerned about blood flow through it. That's the only reason I am going. I need to know.

I understand. I was concerned about bone splinters. It was a really bad break, i had to set the toe before i could get my shoe on!
Hope they can help you! Hugs!
