The Old Folks Home

@MrsMistyReal, give him a hug and tell him we are all rooting for him here at 'the home'!

God must have been listening to me because I went outside to put my mamma hen and the three chicks in the coop, it thundered and poured rain and hail on us. I got trapped under a tarp holding two trembling chicks until the worse of the storm passed.

I lost my last hen from the original flock that had ocular Marek's tonight. I think she stroked. I found her laying on her left side unable to stand. Her left wing was drooping and she kept rolling on her side. She also lost her vision in her good eye which was on the left also. I finally decided that she had stroked from Marek's and did the humane thing for her. She was so thin even though she ate like a horse. MD really did a number on her.

Yeah, cap, my pumpkins and squash are all blooming right now. Bad thing is that I lost my plant stakes telling me what I had planted where. So SURPRISE! when it comes to seing what is developing. I've got big robust plants though that are starting to vine.
I'm so sorry for your loss glad there was protection for you & your feathered family members God was there
Amen will do & thank you:hugs

Good night sweet dreams everyone:frow

Me too, @ronott1. Thank you. I have a few left that are on the thin side no matter what I do for them but that group of hens are all over 3 now and who knows if they are thin from Marek's or from age related reproductive cancers. She was a Buff O and one of the heavy layer breeds so it's a toss up. But I'll miss her. Her name was Aguilla, my little Eagle. when she was a chick she would roost on top of the water bottle and dive down at her brood mates. Lots of personality and a great broody.

@bruceha2000. The funny thing about Amish and their wheels is that they don't use rubber of any kind here on their wheels. Back in IL there was an Amish community not far from us and they could use rubber tires on their buggies and equipment only they couldn't inflate them. It was so weird to see them rolling down the road with 'flat' tires. Here the metal wheels just crush up the rock they put down on the unpaved roads and drive it down into the dirt. The road commissioner hates the damage they do to the gravel roads

I just don't see that.... those buggies must weigh nothing compared to a car... How much damage can those light things do?
