The Old Folks Home

My Rosemary plant is doing fantastic. I love that plant. Every time I water it it sends out a wave of fragrance, like it's thanking me. I always tell it 'you are welcome'....yes, I talk to my plants also, LOL.

After we shared meals with our Amish neighbors a few times I told DH that every child should spend a month in an Amish household. There would be far fewer problem kids and kids on behavior control drugs. Don't ever hear of Amish kids on ADHD drugs. Kinda like that South Park episode where the child behavior specialist asks somebody how to deal with a child who wouldn't do their home work. Kid was sitting there screaming it's lungs out and bouncing up and down. Specialist whaps him a good one and says SHUT UP AND DO YOUR HOMEWORK! Kid immediately shuts up and gets busy. Sorry, but that is how Amish deal with kids. They should have a sign hanging in their kitchen that says No Rod Was Spared in the Raising of These Children.

Before I get flamed, I know there are children that really do need medicating but you would be stunned if I was to tell you the percentage of kids we saw in our office who were on some drugs that could only be considered 'big gun psychotropics'. Many were so drugged that you could not keep them alert enough to do the testing or the fitting for their glasses. I once had to hold a child's eyelids open so I could get measurements for his lenses. Ask the parents if they thought their child was over medicated and they would just give you a blank look and shrug. Made me wonder if they were dipping into the pill bottle also.

Dh and just got back from picking up a bunch more top soil and pine bark mulch. For our new raised beds. I guess I am also going to fill in the wicking bed with soil. I'm just tired of being over run with all these frogs.
We had a frog stuck on the front door glass last night! I went outside and it jumped on me. I transplanted it to my workshop window in case it started chirping near hubbys window.

There was an article about the number of children on ADHD drugs. It is quite sad to see that.

I lost almost all my seeds that I planted twice in my wicking bed from all the rain we've had. And another mess coming at us. So I am going to raised beds. I will have to wait till this tropical storm passes to try to get my beds done. But I did buy a large tomato plant and a bell pepper that already has peppers ready to pic on it. lol And some rosemary plants to put around my grape vines. I have a few squash that came up and a few cuc's.
I'm getting such a late start that I just don't know if I will get much of anything this year.
My lettuce is progressing though. And I did plant some basil, lavender, marjoram, borage.

We need rain SO bad. Y'all can send your surplus west cause we sure could use it.

My small garden is doing well in spite of the dry spell mainly because I'm watering and mulching everything.

@CapricornFarm, my white pumpkins and warty red squash are doing well. Can hardly wait to harvest. I moved a few panels to my run around last fall and this year I planted my tomato plants where the run once was. Those 'maters love that rich soil!

I must be weirder than even I suspect I am because I LOVE the sound of frogs. We have spring peepers here along with green tree frogs, tiger frogs and bull frogs galor thanks to our two ponds so it isn't unusual to find green tree frogs hanging onto the side of the house.

@MrsMistyReal, how is your husband doing and how are you doing? Keeping you both in my prayers. Can't begin to tell you how contagious your cheerful greetings and positive outlook on life is and how much it is appreciated.
