There was a fire several years ago 90 miles of here. It burned through miles of forest, and was only barely stopped at the Grayling city limits. Most of the affected area was state land or on a private hunting reserve, so few homes were affected, but my it was scary.

That fire jumped across I 75, a divided 4 lane freeway. I saw another in that area earlier this year caused by a car fire, fortunately quickly extinguished. Sounds like that's what started the Carr blaze as well.

I believe that's true of production lines, not so much heritage lines.

True... and these are quality breeder lines.

Here is a better photo of mom and her chicks, 3 brown and.. 8? (Silly things are too fast for me) white/cream ones.

We put her in the white tractor to keep her and the chicks safe, and she hates it!

She has been feral for so long that she freaks out that she can't go hide somewhere if you sit close to see her and chicks. Poor girl.

The fire up north of me continues to be devastating. A BYC member lost their house, flock and then the house they evacuated too was destroyed and killed all of the animals except for 2 dogs
