Happy anniversary, Cap!

Before we went up to Santa Fe to do some landscaping on the place, I took 14 Gambel Quail chicks (out of 19 eggs) off to the Wildlife Rescue. Left the 5 "dud-ish" eggs in the incubator. Came back from our overnight and two stragglers were in the incubator. Funny thing, they were decidedly a bit grayer in color than the other 14 (which were yellow and brown), so I'm thinking they might've been laid by another quail. That or older eggs equals lower hatch rate and, well, if we're older aren't we also grayer?

Santa Fe had a gathering storm, but we put 5 trees into the backyard and mulched pre-noon before the storm hit. A snow storm! Meanwhile, back on the farm in Corrales, we had relentless wind that turned into a deluge of rain and hail. There is snow on the mountains this morning, and we've got cool air which is a crisp 42 degrees. Nice that I don't have to water today, just pick up all the fallen pine cones that litter the yard.
Hope everyone has a terrific Tuesday!
