The Old Folks Home

You are evil.

I put my broodie buster cage in the bachelor pen where it is easier to move around. I walk in this morning and Screech is standing in the middle of the pen with this suffering look on her face and clucking a regular cluck like she is saying "they are heathens! Can I come out now! I promise to be good!" I told her nice try.

600$ a day for a car rental. Good grief. The only time I've ever rented a car was when mine was in the shop for an extended period of time. Never more than a 150$ or so for two or three days when I've had to pay out of pocket.

Spent most of the day outside planting garden. Got beets, tomatoes, lettuce, spinach, bush beans and some potatoes planted then called Burpees and politely ranted at them that they told me my onions and Yukon gold seed potatoes were being shipped around the 12th of the month and HELLLLOOOO....it's the 25th, every one around me has their veggies planted and I'm sitting here waiting for plants that were supposed to be shipped over 13 days ago. We are zone 5B here. Barely. Zone 6 is real close to us but they still consider us Zone 5 so good luck convincing them. They promised they would be in the mail this week as they had to have all zone 5s in the mail by the end of the month. Sigh. Well, I tried.

Ok, so after feeding the kids this morning, I picked up 3 large wheel barrows full of limbs, sticks and debris from the trees. Went to town to pick up a few more water and food bottoms (I have all the jars I need that fit into them). Feed went up here too. dangit. Then came back and mowed a while, then washed the car while a load of clothes were in the washer. Moved the two early birds out of the incubator and checked on the remaining eggs. Saw pips... a few hours later I hear cheeps.. Man, once those Beilefelders get moving, they are out of the eggs in no time at all. I think that's all I got done today.. Thinking.... yup, and I'm wore out.
