I must say, your mothers quote is very accurate and well said.
And I can relate to bone issues. My genetic disorder has many comorbidities. But one of the major effects is joints. I have osteoarthritis in several joints. And I injure easily having micro tears and inflammation in tendons and ligaments. I was once a competitive body builder. And I do credit that for giving me 10 more years than drs predicted before a cane would be necessary . And I am not crippled as predicted at this age. I still go to the gym regularly. I'm not willing to give up the war yet.
I'd love to see pics of your birds. Especially your Egyptians.
I have a small flock due to where I live.
So I wanted a variety of eggs. A lot different from when I once had over 30 chickens and 40 acres.
Currently I have 3 pullets that are 2 leghorns and 1 buff Orpington. The orp is my spoiled baby girl. She's always on my back or shoulders.
And we have 4 in the brooder just 2 weeks old. 1 Easter egger, 1 olive egger, a barred rock, and a golden laced Wyandotte. And 2 ducks.. Rouen I think???
I am English. From Gloucestershire. An area called the Cotswolds. I am in Florida now. Where trying to garden in this heat and humidity with biting flies is like trying to garden in the foyer to hell. Cannot grow squash here to save my life. Year 3 in the attempt. Fungal issues attributed to humidity every time. No matter the season I try growing them.
