The Olive-Egger thread!

haven't had a chance to catch up on this thread with all the holiday madness, i'm not one to post but do follow this thread! Earlier this year I got some OE's from cottagegarden. I am absolutely LOVING them!! the egg shell color is fantastic and the chicks i've hatching are just adorable!

My DD is off of school this week so she wanted to do a photo shoot with the newest chicks, hatched on Christmas eve.

first, I picture of eggs (BCM egg in the center)

and then three little balls of fluff, pay no mind to the pink zip ties, they look identical to the Amer hatched at the same time so those are temporarily there for identification...
here is DD with the group:

then, DD decided they needed to adorn our tree, so I had to take a few pics.

thanks Chicken stalker, i just have to share something about that 'human' chick....I'm sooo stinkin proud of her, last Thursday she decided to cut and donate (to locks of love) 10 inches of that gorgeous hair she has! just about sent me into tears watching them cut it and DH had to leave the salon but she is THRILLED with the cut and it just looks adorable on her!

a percious girl. I have 4 human chicks, all pullets, some days I want to cull them all but luckly those days are fewer than the precious ones

I have a few OE's I hatched...they are only 4 months old. I can't WAIT till spring when they'll start laying! I realized this Christmas after blowing out numerous colored eggs for decorations...the Olive color would be such an asset.

So.....having two EE pullets that my DGD just bought that are getting close to POL.....do I put them in with the smaller flock of Barred Rocks or the bigger flock that has a BO roo and a bunch of RIR hens in it? Am getting ready to start intergrating this next week as they have been quarantined long enough. BR coop is five girls and a roo. The other has the BO roo and 11 hens.

I have a small pen ready that I am going to put in a run and let them start getting aquainted. Just can't decide which one to put them in. Reading about egg color that they might produce I was just curious.

Thanks...
