I was so glad to find this thread. I have the most gorgeous Welsummer Roo...I think he also has some EE as he has a black beard. Will post a pic tomorrow. I have crossed him with my EEs....this will result in Olive Eggers...right? I already have 2 three week old chicks from them and 8 in the incubator. I am so excited!!!!! My roo...Tonka...is such a handsome boy. He does something so funny. When he breeds with one of the hens and finishes...he does this little high step dance!!! Wish I could get him on video.
One of my best friends is incubating several OE eggs...this is so exciting.but I hate waiting til they are old enough to lay!!!

Did you get your roo from Tracy, by chance?

Yes I did!!! And just realized who you are.. LOL Tracy just received eggs from you didn't she?? She is such a sweetheart..we have so much fun with our chickens. I have 2 of her roosters. I fell yesterday going out to the hen house..just had knee surgery on both knees...they took all the impact when I tripped. Layed for an hour until someone came home. (did not have phone with me which I PROMISED I would keep with me when alone) of course I am "grounded" by my hubby and sons...LOL Anyways...i was going out to take a pic of Tonka. Will get one as soon as I can get out there. He is a very handsome roo. Stands tall and straight. He has the wings under his eyes and a black beard..it stands out with his red cape. I have 5 chicks from him that are around 3 weeks..mixed with EEs, Blue Andalusian and a nice mutt hen.
Tracy and I both have eggs incubating...we have talked about coming to visit you this summer. Will be nice to put a face with the stories!

I have the sisters of your roo and they lay army green eggs. They are sooo hard to candle, even though they aren't really dark- just thick. Super aqua blue on the inside of them. The olive eggs I sent Tracy are from them.

Hello to everyone. I have been reading and wishing I had olive layers....well my sister has blue and black Ameraucanas that I hatched out last Feb...one lays a greenish blue egg and the others blue and she has a BCM cockerel in with them and she is being me eggs! These will be olive layers...right? I don't know how many she is bringing me but I am so excited...well will be if they are olive layers...specially cuz this week has been bad for my chickens...I have lost 2 BLRW, a buff orp, 3 lav Amerucanuas, 3 BCM, a Blk Am and a blue cochin...I think we are on the up swing of this...they were wheezing...well that was long winded...I just wanted to say I am getting some I think...Thanks for listening!

Here's a photo of my OE roo

He's a cross from two top lines: a Cree line splash Ameraucana roo and Wade/Kelvin Jeane line FBC Marans hen. He just started crowing today. I just love that "baby crow"--it's so cute! Now, waiting on the pullet to finally decide to become a hen! At 27 weeks, I want an egg!
