It's a useful chart--not as simple as it looks. THe dark egg layers, marans, can vary in intensity of paint, ie cuckoo v. wheaten v BC. And the brown layers vary from a cream to a medium red-brown. SOme blues, are intense, some more pastel, some a bit green. Anticipating hens to lay is very interesting indeed.
I am so OCD.... I know who lays what. Since I have a limited flock #, I have one of each breed (except Ameraucanas & EEs).... I put up a camera in the hen house pointing @ the nest to see who laid what. Sat in the living room & waited until one left & went to collect it up!! Then if a gal is not "up to par" helping me get those pretty rainbow dozens, I rehome her with a 4Hers flock so she can be spoiled & I can have the exact hens I need..... So between my Welsummer, Cuckoo & Blue Copper Marans gals, I know who's my trophy dark layer! & I know all the Ameraucanas' & EEs varying shades.... of course I HAVE to keep a collection to oo & ahh at!!
IDK how people could NOT want to know (as I need to know)... LOL Some call my OCD: Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, others refer to is as Obsessive Chicken Disorder, since I use my flock to give me something to organize, control & am constantly making modifications to improve efficiency. I figure it is now not OCD, its mutated into OCCD!!! hehe
