The Olive-Egger thread!

are the EE good temered hens? i missed out on getting one this year but next year ill find one no matter what! i just love how the egg color is so unique!

Temperament wise my EE from the hatchery are even tempered, a little friendly, not standoffish but none of mine are a jump in your lap type. The most in y our sace types are my speckled sussex and buff orpingtons. Also raising them very hands on can help. ANd always individual birds which are the exceptions. My boys played with the Ee as chicks and can easily approach and catch. I have a hard time.

Anyone planning to sell eggs around the start of Sept?
I'd love to jumpstart my plans with some blue/black/darker Olivers and plan to have some eggs from my BCM over EE's ready to start about then too. Might as well jump in with a full 'bator :)

I was not planning on selling any, but I do have some now that you asked. I just got done saving eggs for my self and so far all the chicks I've hatched from them, have been barred or blue (the blues where so cute I just put 6 more in the bator) How many eggs are you wanting?

This is one of the blue pullets from my spring hatch

What a lovely hen!!

I'd want a dozen eggs, but I won't even have my incubator until the end of the month, then I'll need a few days to make sure it's up & running ok. Also hoping to get a dz from DMRippy. I was planning to put my BCM roo with my generic feed store EE's but they just aren't the prettiest, and so far only 1 of 5 is laying an egg that looks worth hatching.

So getting a jump start on my Olive Egger Empire is looking good :)

What was the cross on that blue pullet?

nice looking bird

A couple of the OE chicks I hatched out. They are 3 weeks old and in that awkward stage.
(Blue Cuckoo Marans over EE's) I'm pretty sure the first two are going to be roos.

Got a good pic of my blue girl. I cannot wait for her to start laying!

The laced girl in front is due to start laying anytime. These are the last of my dominant white project and the egg color has potential to be a nice bright green or olive. Hopefully. Cant wait though! Her single combed sister/hatchmate started laying a couple weeks ago and lays a nice little redish brown egg.

i really like the colors of your girls. I have a splash girl who has just a little copper on the front of her neck. I like the lacing you have.
