I have always had my perches 2x4 laying flat. Only variation was out in the run where I put it edge up. It didn't seem to make a difference either way. This will be interesting to see what happens.

So far using 2x4 it seems that the orientation matters little. It may be a location preference (what I suspect) or there isn't enough difference to make a difference.

As time progresses we will hear the rest of the story. It is still early days. How many more weeks do you plan to go before you get all your variations?

Right now I have 4 more variations in mind, so 8 weeks unless perch math works like chicken math. In which case it may never end.

Definitely interesting results. I don't think the couple of inches difference in height would have given such profound results. So was it the round shape, the diameter, or the smoothness compared to the 2x4. It's really going to make the tree branch test interesting.

This week is the branch so Sunday the new results will be in. I'm intentionally leaving the bark on, I have a suspicion the smooth texture in the previous test may have influenced the results.
