I have a Hawkbait too! He's a Satin Showgirl but I recently bred out some of his babies with my Silver Laced Polish Bernadette.

Mines actually named HawkBait. We thought a hawk got her her first day outside, but she was sleeping under the tractor. Plus it's a conversation starter when people are horrified by the name.

Mine is actually Hawkbait too! He was carried off by a hawk but I was able to scare it into dropping him.

Oh that's sad. Can you keep the chicks confined until older?

They are in a separate pen with their mother. I just let them out for supervised time and she went for them. Wasn't the first time. At least the older chicks I have can run fast!

I am thankful that mine have integrated well. They are fast for sure and have some spots that only they can get to - so I see them retreating there often.

1 of the chicks (clover) has a bit of red under her/his beak (kinda like tiny wattles). The other chicks are still pink underneath. Is clover a boy? They are 5 weeks old.
