Question about my polish in a mixed flock: is there a true chance she won’t be bullied or is it a must that she be separated ? If so, should I get her some polish friends?
I ordered 2 polish with the others that came from Meyer a few weeks ago, the other polish died the day after they arrived. This one survived (3 near death experiences). But now, she’s alone and sometimes pecked at. We are using Peck-No-More to keep the others from hurting her. So far it’s working. We reapply every few days and they will be reminded to stop pecking her. No feathers are missing, so we’ve so far let her stay with the flock. But as her feathers come in as she gets older, I’m worried about her, especially once they are moved outside and can’t be monitored.

Any ideas and encouragement would be appreciated. Honest feedback too. I’m already plotting a separate coop area and finding her some polish friends but wanted some feed back of more experienced polish keepers. Thank you!
I have begun integrating my polish pullets into my mixed flock of adults. They don't get bullied anymore than the non-polish pullets that are also integrating with them. Maybe trim a few of the feathers around her eyes if she has trouble seeing. Doing so has worked wonders for my Buff Laced Polish, who used to frantically run around and bump into things whenever another bird bothered her. The harder it is to see other birds coming and the more sporadically they move the more likely it is for them to be picked on.

Also I agree with what @CaliforniaMountainChicks said. Giving the birds things for entertainment will help.

They are still in the larger brooder as of today, am hoping to be moving them outdoors this weekend or next. I live in Southern CA so the temps aren’t moving much between 65-75* between day and night right now. Torturous I know 🤷🏻‍♀️ So I think they’ll be fine outside at 4 1/2 - 5 1/2 wks old. We’ve just got one or two more things to tidy up and then they can safely go outside into the coop. I’ll miss them once they’re outside. I told my husband I’ll be moving out there with them. #crazychickenlady Thanks for the tips. 😉😉

Only one of mine seemed to get picked at a bit, but no issues now that they’re free ranging most of the day. They do tend to stick with themselves (two roos of four), but my single Polish pullets and hen haven’t had issues. The hen is definitely top tier in the pullet coop though

Maybe most of you all knew this already, but I have learned the hard way that medicated chick starter is not a great feed choice for Polish. 😞 I hatched my 6 beautiful Tolbunt Polish and a bunch of other chicks—d’Uccles, d’Anvers, Olandsk Dwarfs, Brahmas, and a bunch of barnyard mixes…but I’ve only lost my Polish and all after 10 weeks. They all presented with the same symptoms so I knew it couldn’t be an illness since no other chicks but the Polish have shown any signs of illness. They were all fine, then within a week they were practically skin and bones, had odd skin lesions, and lost the ability to walk. They would give up trying to eat and die from organ failures. NO other illness signs, no lack of appetite or drinking…so when my FOURTH Polish Axel started wobbly walking I brought him in and started him on Tylan injections in case it was an illness even if I didn’t think so, and then began a treatment of vitamin E and B complex every other day. He has gotten iodine soakings for the skin scabs, baths to keep him clean, and food and water and his vitamins for 3 weeks now. I was sure I would lose him and planned (still will if things go backwards) to send him for necropsy. However, I noticed about a week ago that his right wing was moving a bit and he had started vocalizing more instead of acting quiet and sickly…and today, he almost stood up on his own and walked a step or two! 🎉🎉🎉 I believe that the Amprolium in the feed may have blocked too much of their nutrient absorption and as they started getting their big kid feathers it taxed their immune system too much and depleted what they had remaining. Just wanted to share my very sad and frustrating experience with others in hopes it helps others avoid similar results and heartache. I feel so guilty and sad…it seemed to hit the girls the fastest and I only have Josephine the frizzle left :-( Sally and Lola passed before I had time to do anything for them at all :-( So Spider and Josephine are now getting some supplements too…just in case. Even though they both seem stronger and healthier than the other 4 did. Worst part is I had a buyer for Axel the day after he went lame :-( Anyway, something to keep in mind with your future Polish babies ❤️

I love all chicken breeds, but I absolutely love polish chickens!
Not only do they look beautiful and hilarious, they are well known for being friendly and have great personalities.
I don't own them (yet) but my silkie, Pippin is sitting on 6 polish bantam eggs. Hopefully they hatch so Pippin can fulfil her dreams of being a mamma hen, and fulfil my dreams of having some polish! click here to see the colours I might get and some info about the eggs. I'm hoping to get a laced buff and a range of colours

Cute! Where’d you get your Buff Laced Polish? She’s gorgeous! I used to have one that looked just like her.
