I have 2 chicks so far. These two seem to have more black than I have seen in photos of other chicks. It is almost like a stripe from the head down the back. Have any of you had chicks like this before?

Yes. I see now that as mine fluff up more they look just like those lol . Thus far I have one that is whiter and one that is more yellowish. I have 7 more pipped and 2 still waiting on.

Of that bunch 2 were hens and 5 roosters. I know they aren’t sex linked however 2 were whiter. I need to pay closer attention to this next time.

So far I have 9/11 hatched. Two are white and black. This is number 9 and it has a black beak which is a first.

Yes it will. None of the others have that. I have one more egg that pipped a couple hours ago and one that hasn’t done anything yet. I started with 16 eggs from 2 different flocks. I am unsure if that means different lines. I was happy to have 11 make it to lockdown. There are 5 chicks from one and 4 from the other so far.
