The Pita Pinta Asturiana

Pics
I hatched way over 100 Pita Pinta chicks last year. I currently have 21 chicks in a brooder and 32 more eggs in the incubator. I only give a few eggs to my broodies because the ones that have gone broody so far this year are pullets & first timers. Sometimes I give them eggs and come to regret it. The pullet that I gave 4 developing eggs to last night squashed one and I found a dead, bloody Pita Pinta chick in her enclosure today. It looked like it was 3-4 days away from hatching. So sad!

Oh ok. Sorry I didn't know, I had just saw where people had like 5-10 eggs or so

No need to apologize! I think that we are all just getting started with our hatching. I think that I have the largest Pita Pinta flock. I hatched lots of chicks last year so I could pick the best for breeding this year. I also hatched lots of chicks so other people could get a start with this wonderful breed. I am an official Pita Pinta pusher!

Yes and I will be working on building a breeding flock this year.

I'm try to kinda "fundraise" to have enough to build a new chicken coop and then convert half of the woodshed into a rabbit barn. After I do that I'll look into possibly getting into this wonderful breed!

My daughter and I moved all 21 Pita Pinta chicks into our 4 ft stock tank brooder. We put both small heat plates in with them. They are having a fit about the new digs and peeping almost non-stop. But when I put my hands in and bawk, bawk to them, they all come running to hover under my hands while making happy chirps. I should shoot a video of it. They are so cute! I had to demonstrate my chick whisperer skills to my adult daughter and her friend. My daughter is not fond of my chickens but she had to admit they it was cute!
