The Pita Pinta Asturiana

Pics
Hi Guys,
Very hot in GA today! The humidity is stifling. According to the news Ya'll (you all) are experiencing unusually hot weather, too. I am posting pictures of the 3 Pita Pinta's from Zorro. They will be 12 wks. Aug. 1. I think they are very pretty, of course

Nice!

Thank You, Ron. There certainly are not any others around for me to compare them to. They are very nice birds, not skittish or flighty, and they are mostly really quite compared to the EO's who squawk a lot

. I haven't checked their keels yet. Not sure what to look for. At
times all three seem to be one sided. Then today when I took the pictures it didn't show. They are really nice to have around.

What cuties! Love the white tail feathers. It is apocalyptically hot here, too. Ron told me to install a mister on a timer (I always do exactly what he says, because he knows everything about chickens!), and mine are doing OK. Hope yours are as well; I suppose it's too humid there for a mister.

My first pullet egg from my oldest batch was 68g turned out to be a double yolker.

These older ones are so friendly and love to be petted. Im going to hate to have them go to the breeding pen.

Hi Ballerina Bird,
Yep, humidity starts out in the A.M. about 80% and just gets worse. A mister wouldn't work here, I don't think. The Pita Pintas seem to be faring o.k. for the time being. I may add a fan to their run if we don't get some relief, soon.

I think that they are beautiful, too! Look at those nice yellow legs! It looks like I've gotten rid of the white legs from last year. I haven't had any with white legs this year, so far.

Thanks Debi,
I am really enjoying my journey with the chickens. Along with the 3 Pita Pintas we have 3 Easter Egger pullets, and 3 Euskal Oiloa pullets. Only 1 EO laying, all the others should be laying pretty soon, I hope. They are all different ages.
One thing I noticed with the Pita Pintas, they do not show near the aggression towards new members introduced to the flock as the others have. Last week I introduced 2- 8 week EE's in a separate pen in the run, and just yesterday, let them out for the first time. The PP's were interested and chased them a little, but never offered to peck or flog them.
I am impressed by their temperament, so far. Great birds! Must be the California influence

They are very sweet!

Be careful though. I have had them go after a new comer once and it seems like this years chicks are a bit more animated. I have one now that chirps until I come pick it up. It is very cute so it is likely a boy. It seems like the girls are not like that.
