Thank you! We'll see. I have been having problems with the temps in my Brinsea. That has never happened before. I use a Brinsea spot check for a thermometer in addition to the glass one that is mounted in the incubator. The chick dust makes it hard to see the glass one so I have been depending on the Spot Check to be accurate like it always has been. I dug out some other thermometers to compare them and the 2 of them were the same and the Spot Check was off. I thought maybe the battery was getting old so I changed it! That was it! Now all three are within .3 degree difference! So I'm thinking that the Spot Check was reading higher than it actually was and that's why the last 2 hatches have been delayed. If it's not one thing, it is another! I have 3 out, 1 zipped but no action for hours, and 1 pip out of 15 eggs. Tonight is day 22.

Let it go longer if it was really low. I think the Pitas may be really humidity sensitive at hatch too.

Tomorrow, I am taking a Pita Pinta rooster and 3 hens to a friend of mine. I brought home the best rooster from the farm. Now, I'm trying to decide if I should give her Pedro and keep this one. He is around 2 yrs old and has more white than Pedro plus a smaller comb. He is not as big and broad in the body. Pedro is less than a year old and will get more white as he molts. I do have 36 chicks from him. Do you think that I should keep with Pedro or switch to the new boy?

Like pedro more. But Id probably try and breed both. You mentioned you needed to reduce the number of hens for Pedro maybe get him a few girls. I do like his white but as you say he is older

The new boy has sickle tail in the back but the tail angle is better. The comb is better and the body shape looks better.

Start breeding with the new boy. You will not get chicks from him for two weeks and some chicks will still be pedros for about 30 days.

There should be a lot of new cockerels to choose from for next year. Remember that the hens also add quite a bit. Maybe work with them for combs and tails. Do you mark the eggs and then bad the chicks so that you know which chick came from which hen? Keeping track of that will help a lot.
