What do you think? Is it true that laying hens lose their yellow leg color due to laying?

Their combs are a nice, deep, red. So if the cause was mites I think their combs would be pale? I'm going to catch them up and look closer tomorrow. In the meantime I ordered some Chia & Flax seeds for treats, can't hurt.

this makes sense. my leghorns got pale legs and they are laying machines.

I was also thinking of laying as an answer to losing color. I’ve heard it before. Age maybe as well.
