Oh, I think he would be even more proud of the fellas that made this possible....paying it forward like he liked to advocate. A lovely chain of friendship and the love of good birds that all these good breeder folks have been weaving down through the years...it's just amazing to me the generosity that flows through it all. It's humbling to even be a part of it!

Those are some chunky chicks!
Do any of you with Silver Penciled find that they feather in slowly? My 3 little ones barely have wing feathers at 2 weeks. Their Fav, Am & JG hatch mates are much further along with feathering. All are from long-term breeder flocks.And those white chicks are HUGE - is that typical?![]()
That is good to know! Thank youAs with a good quality Barred Rock chick, I would expect a patterned chick to feather in slowly, in general. That is why hatchery BRs, who are fast feathering, appear messily barred, while the good heritage BRs are finely, crisply barred. That takes much slower feathering.
