The old style boxes had wire tops, as shown. It was just fine for transporting 9 weeks old juvies. But, for adults or finer birds needed for a demonstrations or exhibiting, the new style box is smooth on the inside, which helps the birds arrive with no feather damage at all. After thousands of miles of good service, that old box hasn't "travelled" in a good while, but makes a nice little sequester space for smaller birds, so I keep it around gathering dust mostly.

I also have this horrible penchant of over building everything. That a good trait in building construction, but when it comes to portable poultry tractors, pens, or travel boxes, it is so completely WRONG.

HAHA.... I do that too.... gets VERY HEAVY. I have a chicken tractor we build when I first got chickens..... WAY to heavy and not convenient either .... you learn as you go.

The chickens were out foraging around the poultry yard all day as it was very nice with a temperature high of 62* today. Here are a couple pictures of the Padgett line Silver Penciled Plymouth Rock pullets enjoying the nice weather.

I think this will be my backup SPPR breeding male. My breeding male is in the pen, and I can't get a good photo of him, but he is quite comparable to this one, except with a nicer comb.

Thank you for the good words on my pullets. They are some I hatched from eggs I got from Danny Padgett. Below is one of the cockerels I got from the chicks I ordered from you last April. I am very happy in the way he has filled out. The last time I got his weight he was 7 months old at 8 lbs. 9 oz. He is 9 1/2 months old now.

hello friends I am new to BYC .........i have been told that i have a plymouth rock hen......i would like to have your all opinions.i a have a pair ......are they pure breed.....can they mate with their heavy weight.......here are the pictures...















please suggest me.........

Virtually any chicken, male over female, will produce chicks.

However, neither of your birds are Rocks. The black bird has some resemblance to a Barred Rock but is a mix. The light colored bird is not a breed that I recognize.

The breeds established in America are described and accepted by the American Poultry Association. A breed Standard for each breed is written or codified if you will.

Since you are in India and if you desire to breed these chickens, yes, given that one is a male and the other female, you could produce offspring. You'd likely need an incubator to do so.

To answer your question as to whether they are "pure bred" the easiest answer is no, quite frankly. Pure bred means that the birds meet the breed standard and produce offspring to the breed standard. This isn't the case here.
