CAUSION! INFORMATION THAT NO ONE KNOWS OF!!!

A small, anxious hen lay on her hatching eggs. There were four of them. It was the first time she had ever brooded and she couldn’t be more excited. She watched as one of the smaller eggs began to hatch. She clucked in excitement. Her mate looked down over her. He was handsome and sweet. And very smart. He walked away for a moment, out from under the bushes under which she lay, to check for any predators. The little mother-to-be watched as the little chick made its last kick to escape. She called to her mate and he came rushing in.
They watched together as the other three chicks made their way out of their eggs and sighed with relief when they knew that all of their new chicks were safe. The new mother surged with delight.
Suddenly, her mate ran out from under the safe bushes at the sound of a screeching animal. He ducked his head under quickly. “Stay here,” he clucked, then he ran back outside. The little speckled hen knew that her mate was a very experienced fighter, but worry overcame her. She ran outside, all the while praying that her chicks would be okay. She looked up, once out of the bush, to see a huge red-tailed hawk circling around them. “Oh no,” she clucked half under her breath.
She watched in dismay as the hawk flew in lazy circles. Suddenly, it lunged for she and her precious mate. There was nothing she could do. Her mate began to come for her, but she stopped him. She’d rather lose her own life than his. Suddenly, a mere second before the hawk landed on her with the strength to kill her on the spot, a white rooster just in front of her, knocking the hawk away. The young mother immediately ran back to her chicks, and the two roosters, the one that saved her and her beloved mate, killed the hawk.
The other rooster never came back, but her mate did. “Are you okay Magnoliabloom?” he asked her with worried eyes. “Yes,” she replied, “as long as I have you, Burningflame.” She smiled and looked down at their chicks. When she saw them she couldn’t hold back tears of anguish. There were only two. The other two were nowhere to be seen. She shook her head. Burningflame clucked, “What should we name them?” And in reply, clucked Magnoliabloom, “We will name them beautiful names,” she clucked. “Their names will be Starchick and Hurricanechick.” Her mate smiled and stared at her. “That’s beautiful,” he clucked. Then they stared down, together, at their beautiful chicks.
