A few get fired from time to time, that's sad, some retire. It's like keeping up with random strangers' lives
I don't know if I could handle being in ATC. I play a game on kongregate called Radar Air Traffic Controller and it's absollutely terrifying!

I've played a simulator for air traffic control and I was pretty good at it. And the thing is, it isn't like you're working alone in real life.
