Here’s Duke and Clucky (Lady Cluck). I know this sounds crazy but I think he was trying to help Vicky lay an egg. He kept scratching around and making weird noises while she eas trying to lay.

Is duke a laced Wyandotte as well? I think i see blue over red lacing on his stomach area

Yes he is. His chest has very pretty lacing. I need to try to get a good picture of it.

Got our first egg today. I actually think Vicky started laying already but we haven’t been able to find her eggs. This one was in the coop. Not in the nesting boxes, but at least in the coop.

All 7 pullets are laying now!

In a month or two I’m going to try to hatch some eggs from Lance and Gwen and from Duke and Jules.

And then get rid of Lance. He is getting mean.

Update:

1. Clucky the buff Orpington is broody. She’s got 9 eggs. Duke, the BLRW should be the father and the eggs could come from any of the girls.

2. I think I’m going to take Duke and one of the BLRW pullets to the auction soon and let Lance (Lav Orp) take over. Even though he can be mean at times the family likes him better because he “is bigger and more handsome”.
