Yeah, sometimes I feel like America is overpopulated. Some cities here are so big they're scary, but that's coming from a country girlI feel like that at times! Everyone seems to be from America. The only other UK people I know here are @Brahmachicken240 and @Fur-N-Fowl
Thank youWhat beauties!![]()
Just pulled my chicks out of the incubator. There's a few barnyard mixes but it's mostly silkies. The parents of the silkies are a blue rooster, one blue hen, and two buff hens. What colors do you see?

Oh, I'm so sorry about your losses ones. Hugs! Here's my current silkie. Used to have 3, 1 white showgirl, a blue, and a splash. The blue died unexpectedly and the other 2 (which went to someone else while I moved)drowned in a duck pond. Hopefully I can get a couple more silkies in the future. Love them.
Hi, whenever I have a chick with pasty butt I use a q-tip and run it under warmer water and try to clear the vent. If its really stuck, I use small scissors to remove the poopy feathers which I feel is safer since you are not pulling at the feathers rather you are trimming them. After the vent is clear, I put a thin coat of Vaseline on the chicks vent area so the feces can smoothly come out. An additional measure I do is also give the chicks SAV-A-CHICK Vitamin solution in their water. In general if you have a chick with pasty butt offer it some sort of electrolyte. Hoped this helps and good luck!I have a question.
I have noticed that my silkie chicks get pasty bum more than other breeds of chickens. I don't really mind except that sometimes I hurt the chicks by pulling a bit of the fluff around their vents off on accident. Do you think that clipping the fluff around their vents shorter with scissors would help prevent pasty bum?
