Don't forget sizzles have walnut combs so aren't going to stand out as much as your first ones whether boy or girl.

Your first sounds boy but in my three the biggest and most in charge turned out to be a hen
My rooster everyone guessed hen and one of my hens they all guessed rooster lol.
I suspect they can be as tricky to sex as silkies because they share so many characteristics.
So I think sizzle guesses need to be taken with a grain of salt lol

Thanks appps. How old were your sizzles when you finally figured out what sex they were? What tipped you off?

way too young at 8 weeks to tell unless they are boys. if they look like a girl, they still could be boys. some of mine have been 8 months before I knew for sure (when they laid) and not all my boys crow.

The boy began getting longer thin feathers round his neck and they turned orange. He has some partridge in him somewhere I suspect. He looked much like your colour to start with though (blackish)
The girls never developed those things and the more he changed the more obvious it was they weren't.

Can't really remember but we pretty well knew for certain by 4-5months.

My sizzle roo has a small spiky black comb, not a walnut one. Does that mean he is not good for breeding?

I would not use him unless he's outstanding in every other way. it is was a hen, it would be less of a problem but with a roo, you are adding that to alot more hens, not a good thing
