I have smooth sizzles, but I created them from a non frizzled parent and a silkie. They look just like my silkie but have normal feathers, yes they are soft but to me they feel just like my Cochins feathers. So I don't understand why y'all are saying you have to have a frizzle to make a sizzle, when all sizzles aren't frizzled some are smooth also.

Neither of them had a parent that was a frizzle, so your saying their not SMOOTH sizzles?

Also when you breed sizzles you can get smooth sizzles, frizzled sizzles, silkies, and frizzled silkies. Unfortunately the frizzle gene doesn't go to all the offspring, and those born smooth will not produce frizzles unless bred to another frizzle. I currently have 3 sizzle chicks, mother is a frizzled sizzle and daddy is a silkie. 2 are frizzled sizzles and 1 is smooth =) It's a 4:1 gamble with these guys! A silkie bred to a bird that is not frizzled will not make a "sizzle" but it will still make a nice looking bird.

nope... if the other parent was a cochin their silchins or cochilkies =) i've heard it both ways... but if bred to a frizzled sizzle they could produce some nice sizzles

They don't have Cochin in them they e have penciled Wyandotte. And how would you know if there mom wasn't a frizzle?
Or what if their mom was a smooth off of a frizzle silkie mix and I used her to mix back to a silkie? I'm not trying to argue with anyone I'm just trying to understand:) but if that was the case: you mix a frizzled Cochin with a silkie and you take one of the smooth offspring of that mix and mix them with a silkie what would those chicks be called? Smooth sizzles or silkie mixes?

Here is a great explanation I snagged from another thread...

A frizzle is any bird with frizzled feathering, but it normally refers to a frizzled bantam cochin. 

A sizzle is the result of breeding a frizzled cochin with a silkie.  Sizzles have the same features as a silkie with the exception of silkie feathering (they may be split to silkie feathering tho) - they have a crest, black skin, a walnut comb, and 5 toes on each foot.  They come in smooth and frizzled feathers.

Then there are frizzled silkies (or some call them "frilkies"), which is a a bird that has silkie feathers that are also frizzled. 

Then there are curlies (some call them "frazzles"), which is the result of a frizzle x frizzle breeding - some say curlies are not a good idea because the feathers can be brittle.
