The way it was explained to me is that if the feathers are hard and curly, fluff out in different directions, it's a frizzle and if the feathers are smooth, like a pigeon's it's a smooth. I'm still learning too! Our 1st gen smooth roo and frizzle hen now have eggs. So we can hatch and get 2nd generation, of what I'm not sure, but it's a whole lot of fun!
