The Supreme Court's Gun Ruling This Week - Not A Debate

That's not what the NRA is about at all. Sounds like you've fallen for the anti's slander and misrepresentation.

You mean like our soldiers and Marines?

Being armed tends to make you more polite, restrained and responsible. I put up with MUCH more crap from people when I'm armed than when I'm not. I think one of the reasons so many kids are not responsible is that they're never given responsibility.

I am probably one of the few women alive that loves guns. The bigger, the better too. I strongly believe in the right to bear arms, and I am a firm believer that EVERY WOMAN should be comfortable shooting and handling a gun even if she never has to use it. We have a shooting range out back and it sounds like WWIII out here on most weekends. I am not a member of any organization that knows or will know what and how many guns I have at my home, nor will I ever be a member of such. I believe the less the government knows, the better. I have a 3 year old daughter and you better believe when she is old enough she will know how to use, break down and clean, and operate a gun even if she chooses not to like them as much as I do. My personal carry gun is the new Taurus, "THe Judge", pistol that shoots both .410 and .45 LC, it is too cool.

The constitution does not give the government rights, it gives individuals rights and limits the governments. It should scare everyone with any sense at all that this was a 5-4 decision. 4 black robed judges supposedly the least powerful arm of the government trying to take away your rights. Every day congress is in session, every law that is passed you loose just a little more of your freedoms. Too many people are OK with this.

I'm not Ok with it. I'm hopping mad about the whole thing. I agree - 5-4 is far too close for me. What I don't understand is why people look to the government for anything other than national security.

I have a feeling that many of us who disagree with the prevailing sentiment here are feeling like we can't speak up.

I do not support the right to own handguns.

I will support your right to hunt, though I don't hunt myself.

I will never support the unrestricted right to own handguns. It is notable that most people who work in urban law enforcement, noble citizens that they are, do indeed support the strictest control of handguns.

I feel like an alien here, at this moment, but I trust civility will prevail, ladies and gents.

I do agree with all your reasonings and explantations regarding Protection for family . I also agree NOBODY should be allowed to carry any gun or USE it unless their life or families life is in danger .

Well like they said in the post before, BAD GUYS WILL ALWAYS HAVE GUNS! Other than hunting and you have to remember personal protection. If you watch the news and see the way the economy is going and the world is falling apart, what do you think all the bad people are going to start doing when gas is $10 a gallon and food is too expensive for the grocery stores to even carry any. The bad people are going to start stealing, killing, doing whatever they have to do to survive, to get their drugs or feed their families. If we ever needed the second ammendment as bad as they did in the old days, that time is now.

"I feel like an alien here, at this moment"

It is our right to express our beliefs, no matter how wrong they may be.

I know of nobody that supports unrestricted handgun ownership and do not do so my self. Non-citizens, felons and the mentally impaired shouldn't have access to firearms.

I believe that law abiding U.S. citizens though, should have no restrictions to legal firearms, handguns included.
